Exercising benefits

The benefits of exercise are familiar to many but there is one in particular that I would like to focus on. Most people work out to lose weight and to look and feel better, but are you aware of the benefits that exercise provide? I’ve been lucky to have worked in this profession for nearly ten years and in that time I've helped many people achieve their fitness goals. The longer I work in this industry the more I am convinced that exercising not only makes you feel good but can even cure us. Just to give you a small list of benefits: improved weight loss, lower blood pressure, stress release, higher stamina, increased bone density, lower cholesterol, increased strength, etc. The one benefit that I wanted to hightlight is the increase in bone density. It might take a little longer to reach this benefit but well worth the investment. I have to say, however, that this benefit is one of the most important ones and the only way to achieve this is through weight bearing exercises.

Additionally, something many people are probably not aware of is that according to the National Osteoporosis Foundation "by the year 2010, it is estimated that over 52 million women and men in their 50's, this same age category will be affected and, if current trends continue, the figure will climb to over 61 million by 2020." This is an epidemic that is affecting a large part of our population. I have personally worked with clients who are in the osteoporosis stage. After six to twelve months those clients have taken bone density tests and have seen a positive change. Often times people turn to medicine to take care of such ailments but the one medicine that proves to work time and time again is exercise. Even television shows such as “The Biggest Loser” highlight the often long list of medical ailments hindering participants only to find that after weeks of exercise, those ailments disappeared on their own. Health is all about balance and the positive effects one can receive from a balanced diet and exercise plan are the greatest gift you can give yourself. Don't wait till it's too late. Start taking care of yourself now.
